Molecular formula Fe3O4, black or dark red powder is ferrous oxide and three iron oxide adduct, small granular. Insoluble in water, alcohol, soluble in concentrated acid, hot strong acid. Has the magnetism, high tinting strength and hiding power. Has good weather resistance, resistance to light and atmosphere, durability, permeability and oil permeability. Good alkali resistance, heat to **0℃.
